I figured since I have such a huge number of international readers, I am gonna write this post in english. Depending on how it goes, I will perhaps do that once in a while. After all, my thesis paper will be in english and I should take every chance I could possibly get to further improve my english writing skills.

However, when I woke up yesterday morning I was extremely tired (still don’t manage to fall asleep at night), so I stumbled into the kitchen to prepare some coffee before my morning workout. And just as I am about to put the capsule into the coffee machine, a cockroach runs past me on the kitchen counter. I screamed and jumped at least one meter up in the air, and once I managed to calm down I realised I had to catch it. Because God knows what would happen if i didn’t. So I started to hunt it around the apartment with a glass in my hand. After a short and intense session I managed to catch it, but the problem now was that I didn’t know what to do with it. Until today, when Amanda reminded me of how I killed a similar animal by pouring boiling water over it when we were neighbours at NTU a few years ago. So the first thing I did today after I got home from the office was to prepare for the death of the cockroach. All in all it took me about an hour to plan his death and to finally execute him. After all I had to somehow flip the glass and pour the water inside without him escaping, and without me accidentally touching it. Anyway, now he is drop dead.

I was not supposed to talk about the cockroach in this post. But the idea was to tell you about the rest of my day, because it mostly consisted of some serious sightseeing. The friend from uni that I have been telling you about earlier (Shermaine) namely has a boyfriend (Sean) that fortunately for me works with tourism. As the kind person he (actually) is, he offered to take me on some sort of guided tour this particular Sunday. At 9am they picked me up and at about 10pm I was back home again, so I will let the pictures speak for themselves. I am too tired at the moment to explain everything in detail anyway. However, we started the day by having breakfast at a local market, and rounded the day off with a tour in the Singapore Flyer and a walk around Gardens by the Bay.

IMG_1731 At 7.45pm, right after dark, there was a light show called the OCBS Garden Rhapsody. It was surreal and awesome.

The Gardens by the Bay was the most spectacular thing I have ever seen, but unfortunately my phone camera don’t give justice to the surroundings. The australians call it the Avatar gardens, and there is a pretty good reason why. Simply it is something that must be experienced.

We had a lot of cockroaches when I lived in South Africa and they can actually survive a nuclear bomb. Pretty amazing animals:

Yes, seems like they can survive pretty much everything. But I am quite sure I found its weakest link;)
