About the Womengineer Foundation
Our aim is to increase the number of women in technical education and professions.
Our goal: 50% female engineers among those graduating
The foundation is passionate about one thing: getting more women to choose technical education and professions! We want to inspire, support and encourage young girls to dare to invest in an engineering education – so that together we create a completely gender-equal technology sector. By showing what the engineering profession is actually about, we want to give everyone the chance to make a well-informed decision about their future and reach their full potential.
In Sweden today, there are approximately 300,000 girls and non-binary people between the ages of 13 and 19. Our big dream at Womengineer is that every single one of them will have the knowledge and self-confidence necessary to shape and choose their own future.
All of us who work at Womengineer are absolutely convinced of one thing: the world becomes a better place when everyone is involved in shaping it. In the long run, the lack of female engineers is not just about individuals, but about our entire society. In addition to the major engineering shortage, schools, companies and organizations are without important female skills. And we know what happens when everyone thinks alike – fewer smart innovations are created, unequal companies become less profitable and The wage gap between men and women will never cease to exist.
IGEday stands for Introduce a Girl to Engineering day and is an event where girls between the ages of 13-19 get to explore their interest in technology and try out life as an engineer at a company somewhere in Sweden. By meeting female engineers, experiencing technology in practice and gaining insight into different professional roles, participants gain inspiration for future studies and career choices. IGEday takes place once a year at the end of March.
Wera is a network that exists to help more people reach their potential in the workplace. We want to strengthen the role and influence of women and non-binary people in everything from innovation, technology and leadership. By offering meeting places that combine lifestyle and career with a focus on sustainability, we create a community that strengthens the position of women in the engineering profession.
