About the Womengineer Foundation

In Sweden today, there are around 300,000 girls and non-binary people between the ages of 13-19. The Womengineer Foundation dreams that every single one of them will have the self-confidence and knowledge to be able to choose their own future.

Our goal: 50% female engineers among those graduating by 2030

All of us who work at Womengineer agree on one thing: the world will be a better place with more female engineers.

In the long run, the lack of female engineers is not just an individual problem, but also a societal problem. In addition to the general engineering shortage, schools, organizations and companies are also lacking female expertise. Fewer innovations are created when everyone thinks alike, unequal companies are less profitable and the gender pay gap never ceases to exist.

Our initiatives

IGEday is the day when girls and non-binary people between the ages of 13-19 get to try out life as an engineer in a workplace in Sweden. Here, young people get a chance to explore their interest in technology and see technology in its context. IGEday takes place once a year at the end of March.

Wera is an initiative that aims to increase the number of women in the technology sector and strengthen their role in innovation and leadership. By offering meeting places that combine lifestyle and career with a focus on sustainability, we create a community that strengthens the position of women in the engineering profession.

UN Sustainable Development Goals

Womengineer is actively working towards UN Sustainable Development Goals #4, #5 and #10.

#4 – Good education for all

Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning for all.

#5 – Gender equality

Achieve gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.

#10 – Reduced inequality

Reduce inequality within and between countries.

Be inspired by our engineering joy

In conjunction with IGEday, we launch a printed magazine filled with inspiration every year! The digital magazine is released every year on March 8th.

After IGEday, we always ask participants what they thought of the day and how their view of technology has changed!
