How do I apply?

Here we have collected all the information you need to apply for an engineering degree.

You can apply at antagning.se!

Once you have decided which education and school you are interested in, it is time to apply. Just like other college and university programs, you apply to admissions.se.

Important dates for the year are collected here here, and once you've entered, Don't forget to accept your place!

Competence

To apply to an engineering program, you first need to have qualifications. You can get this by taking all the necessary subjects at high school, or taking them afterwards at Komvux or through a technical foundation year. Many of the technical colleges offer a technical foundation year. Most engineering programs require Mathematics 4, Physics 1, Physics 2 and Chemistry 1, which you can also get by taking a technical foundation year. To be able to take a technical foundation year, you need to have taken Mathematics 2a, 2b or 2c.

Rating

The admissions points for entering an engineering program vary greatly between different programs and schools, but also from year to year. Generally speaking, the niche technical colleges have higher admissions points. Keep in mind that you end up in your own selection group if you study a technical foundation year, which often gives you a guaranteed place in one of the programs at the same school. You can often also change schools after three years if you are interested in studying a master's degree somewhere else.

What happens then?

Got into engineering? Congratulations! Now is the beginning of some of the best years of your life. Maybe you're moving far away from home, getting your first place to live, or you don't know anyone else who's going to study. Don't worry!

Here are some tips along the way:

  • Get on the housing queue as soon as possible. In some places, especially in big cities, it can be a bit tricky to get housing.
  • Research what the student union does and what activities they offer. There is usually a lot for new students.
  • Check out what you need for student literature.
  • Apply for a study grant via CSN.

Don't forget to have fun! Failing an exam isn't the end of the world - it happens to everyone. Enjoy your study time and do it at your own pace!
